I am a materials scientist with a background in theoretical physics, currently a staff scientist at Argonne National Laboratory‘s Energy Systems Division and also an Institute Fellow at the Northwestern Argonne Institute of Science and Engineering (NAISE) at Northwestern University.

My interests include:

  • The physics and chemistry of growth, and the relationship between surface kinetics, structure, and properties of materials.
  • Electronic materials, and the way their properties affect the performance of devices in the areas of power electronics, and semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Plasma kinetics.
  • Programming, coming back to my ZX spectrum plus, now trying to understand how high performance computing can be applied to advanced manufacturing.
  • Theoretical physics, dynamic systems, and stochastic processes.
  • Typography
  • Neuromorphic computing is my perfect storm, involving all of the above.
